199V’s latest single “Mantra” is the first off his Ctrl V EP, releasing later this Fall. The melancholic tune pulls to a darker side of 199V’s artistry while remaining lighthearted as the young Montréaler goes from falsettos to a deeper tone throughout the track. While the song leans towards an almost hypnotic R&B track, V still manages to blend in his signature rap verses with ease.
The song comes accompanied by a music video directed by 199V himself along with Canadian production company Further, while the production is a collaborative effort between 199V and frequent collaborator Lucatheproducer (Lucas Liberatore), where they make fine use of synths and brass that keep you listening.
